Discover A Arnoia

In the heart of O Ribeiro, right where the Miño and Arnoia rivers join hands, lies a municipality in the province of Ourense made to be savoured slowly: A Arnoia. Just a few kilometres from Ribadavia, this fertile and radiant land is synonymous with its famous pepper, fine wine and a way of life tied to the water, the vegetable garden and tradition.

Home of the D.O. Ribeiro —the oldest wine denomination in Galicia—, of the thermal springs at the Balneario de Arnoia and a stop along the Camiño de Santiago on the Miñoto-Ribeiro variant, A Arnoia invites you to discover its surroundings at a leisurely pace. Below you’ll find four sections to plan your visit: What to see, Where to stay, Where to eat and Routes.

WHERE WE ARE
In the heart of O Ribeiro

A Arnoia is a municipality in the province of Ourense located in the heart of the O Ribeiro region, at the confluence of the Miño and Arnoia rivers. Its location, just a few kilometres from Ribadavia, makes it a natural gateway to discovering one of the most fertile and welcoming landscapes in Galicia.

Sunny valleys, vineyard terraces and the ever-present water shape surroundings that invite you to explore them calmly and to let yourself be carried along by the rhythm of this land.

THE PEPPER AND THE WINE
Flavours with a name of their own

A Arnoia is, above all, a land of pepper and wine. Its peppers enjoy their own fame, the fruit of a generous vegetable garden and of know-how passed down from generation to generation.

And all around, the vineyards of the D.O. Ribeiro, the oldest wine denomination in Galicia, which finds here one of its most representative settings. To discover this land is also to sit at its table and toast with what it gives.

WATER AND WELLBEING
The thermal springs of Arnoia

The thermal tradition is another of the great attractions of this corner of O Ribeiro. The Balneario de Arnoia harnesses the mineral-medicinal waters to offer rest and wellbeing, in a peaceful setting by the riverside.

It is the perfect place to book a few hours of pause and care, thus rounding off a visit that combines nature, gastronomy and relaxation.

CAMIÑO DE SANTIAGO
Land of pilgrims

The Camiño de Santiago also passes through A Arnoia, on its Miñoto-Ribeiro variant, an itinerary that runs through this land following the course of the rivers and the trace of the old paths.

Taking a break here along the Camiño is the best way to get to know the surroundings: to mingle with its people, enjoy its cuisine and discover a place that is well worth more than a single day.
